Hi there, I'm Laura.
I'm a Christian life, leadership & business coach and founder of Sterling & Stone. I help people discover who they are, recognize what they have to offer, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
I work with people who know there's more they want to do with their lives, but aren't always sure what that looks like or where to begin.
Maybe you're one of them.
You've lived a lot of life. You've been faithful. You've grown. You've hurt. You've healed. You've learned some things the hard way. And somewhere along the way, you've started wondering if everything you've experienced might actually be part of what God wants to use.
Maybe you have an idea you can't shake, a problem you want to solve, people you want to help, or something you want to create. But how do you take what's inside of you and turn it into something meaningful?
That's where I come in!
I love helping people recognize the wisdom, gifts, experiences, and possibilities they already carry, then figure out what to do with them.
Sometimes that means working through limiting beliefs or rediscovering your identity. It could be developing your leadership, navigating a transition, or finding the courage to do something you've never done before. Or taking what you've learned and turning it into a business, ministry, or some type of opportunity to serve others.
Whatever path you're called to walk on, I want you to have more than inspiration. I want you to have the clarity, tools, and confidence to actually move forward.
I believe we're created to grow, contribute, and multiply what's been entrusted to us.

In helping people discover their own answers, instead of telling them who they're supposed to be and what they're supposed to do.
And I believe God has given each of us a unique combination of experiences, abilities, desires, and opportunities. We have a responsibility to steward those things well, revealing the character and nature of God our Father.
You don't need a platform, a business, or a big public calling to do this either.
I think the greatest impact happens around your kitchen table, in your workplace, through your relationships, or in the life of one specific person you run into today.
You get to discover what's yours to do. And I love helping people figure that out because I love a good mystery to solve! And I believe discovering the unique identity, purpose, and belonging God designed you for is something you can spend your whole life exploring.
Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”
God creates mysteries, and it's our honor to seek, discover, and understand what He's hidden for us to find.
What if your purpose is one of those mysteries? What if God has intentionally given you gifts, desires, experiences, and even a sensitivity to certain problems because they're all clues to what He's created you to do?
I don't believe purpose is something you have to figure out once and for all. As you grow, learn, and experience life, you begin to recognize things you couldn't see before. New possibilities open up. Your understanding changes. And what you're called to do in one season may look different in the next.
You don't have to know the whole plan to take the next step. You get to keep discovering, growing, and choosing what to do with what God reveals along the way.
This work is personal for me
I've wrestled with identity, purpose, and belonging. I've questioned my voice and leadership more times than I can count. I've battled the idea that I needed a bigger platform, more credentials, or someone else's permission to make a difference. I've started over more than once. I've made mistakes, changed direction, and had to look myself in the mirror and coach that girl into taking imperfect action yet again.
For a long time, I lived as though life was something that happened to me. Eventually, I realized I had choices to make. That massive personal responsibility was the key to freedom in my soul and greater power in my spiritual life with Jesus.
I could keep responding to circumstances, expectations, and other people's ideas about my life, or I could take responsibility for the story I was creating.
That's when I began learning to become my own StoryMaker. Not because I believe I control everything that happens to me. I certainly don't. But because I get to decide what I believe, how I respond, what I pursue, and what I do with what I've been given.
No one else owns my story. Just me and Jesus hold the pencil.

A little more about my story
I'm married to my 'bookend', Sean, and together we have five children (three born of my womb and two born of my heart).
Motherhood has been one of the greatest honors of my life. It's also refined me through some incredibly difficult seasons, exposed weaknesses I didn't know I had, and challenged just about everything I thought I knew about myself. And then challenged me again. And again.
In 2007, Sean and I founded Crisis Response International (CRI), a nonprofit missions organization that responds to natural disasters and other crises, meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people in some of life's hardest moments.
That calling has taken us all over the place. We've had 19 addresses in 24 years of marriage, all while homeschooling our children. I'm pretty sure that qualifies me to teach a course on reusing cardboard boxes in 1,001 creative ways!
Over the years, I've had the privilege of developing and leading teams, coordinating trainings and events, teaching, mentoring, and helping equip thousands of responders and missionaries.
I've walked alongside people experiencing tremendous loss and watched ordinary people step into extraordinary opportunities to serve. And I've learned something through it all.
People are capable of so much more than they realize when they know who they are, recognize what they have to offer, and have someone who believes in their ability to grow.
That's a big part of why Sterling & Stone exists.

Why I created Sterling & Stone
My ministry within Sterling and Stone grew out of my love for teaching, personal growth, leadership, and helping people discover what's possible.
I've always been drawn to people who see something that could be different. People who notice a problem and want to solve it. People who have an idea, a dream, or a desire to make life better for someone else. And people who know there's something more inside of them but haven't quite figured out how to bring it into the world.
I love helping that little spark grow into something real!
Over the past decade, Sterling & Stone has evolved as I've worked with individuals navigating personal transitions, women building businesses, leaders growing in confidence, and Christians who want to use coaching to serve others.
I've developed courses, coaching programs, and practical frameworks to help people move from ideas to action. One of those is the PEARL Practice, a biblical, brain-based, Spirit-led approach to helping people process their experiences, challenge limiting beliefs, renew their thinking, and make intentional choices.
I've also trained and certified Christian life coaches, helped entrepreneurs clarify who they serve, and taught coaches how to build the systems and strategies needed to create sustainable businesses.
Because while I love helping people discover their purpose, I also love helping them figure out how to actually do something with it. Ideas are wonderful. Vision is exciting.
But I want to see people take what they've discovered and put it to work!
From personal growth to multiplication
One of the biggest shifts in my own journey came when I began thinking beyond what I could personally accomplish. I felt the Lord impress on me:
It's time to go from addition to multiplication.
I began asking different questions.
What if we weren't just helping people grow, but equipping them to help others grow?
What if the wisdom, tools, and resources we develop could be shared, adapted, and multiplied?
What if more believers had the confidence to gather people, build meaningful relationships, grow together, and live on mission right where they are?
Those questions are shaping the next season of Sterling & Stone, including Table 28, a discipleship initiative inspired by the Great Commission in Matthew 28.
Its heart is simple:
Gather. Create connection.
Grow. Build identity, purpose, and belonging.
Multiply. Equip and release others.
Go. Discover and live on mission.
I want to help develop healthy sons and daughters of God who can become spiritual mothers and fathers to others.
People who know how to grow, lead, serve, and release others to do the same. Not because they're perfect or have everything figured out, but because they're willing to keep growing and invite others along.
Ministering to beautiful women impacted by crisis in a Western Caribbean country.
So, what does all this mean for you?
It means there's room for you here.

And here's something I want you to know.
You don't need to become someone else to make a difference. You can grow in wisdom, develop new skills, change your thinking, and become more intentional without losing the person God created you to be. In fact, that's the whole idea.
Why Sterling & Stone?
The name comes from two scriptures God spoke to me years ago when we first started drafting the S&S blueprint together.
Proverbs 25:11 describes a fittingly spoken word as apples of gold in settings of silver.
And 1 Peter 2:4–5 describes believers as living stones, being built together into a spiritual house.
I love the picture those verses create:
Your words, like Sterling silver, carry Kingdom weight.

You are a living Stone, hand~placed with purpose.
I want Sterling & Stone to be a place where people are encouraged, equipped, and released to contribute what they've been given. A place where personal growth leads to something beyond ourselves. And a place where we celebrate not just what people accomplish, but who they're becoming and who they're helping along the way.
